Sketchbook Midterm Evaluation

 Sketchbook 8.5 x 11 in

A collection of what I have done so far for the first part of this semester, noted that certain project related sketchbook work is visible in my other posts rather then this one and is also under the sketchbook tag. I am happy with the drawings that I have done however I wish I had done more artwork as usually I enjoy practicing and doodling in my sketchbook but I have felt very short on time recently. This is disappointing for me and I’m hoping to improve on this for the second half of the semester because doodling is crucial to the creative process for me so therefore there should be 10x more of it. Another thing that I got back into was pencil crayon work, which is shown with the duckling, I love the blending, feel, and look of it and I used to do it all the time so it’s something I would like to do a lot more of  and I hope to show this interest on my sketchbook pages much more for the rest of semester.

Key words research for the first assignment

Leaf doodles that ended up being somewhat similar to the leaves I drew with the butterfly as the very first post of the semester, I guess it’s just what my brain goes to as the default leaf.

Pencil crayon drawing of a duckling with a little flower hat on his head. I used prismacolour pencil  crayons to draw and blend and a white gel pen for the highlights.

Close up of the duckling :)

Some anatomy studies of the female body, I get the references for these off of a great website  where  you set the gender, clothing/no clothing, and then you can set a timer and it gives you different images to draw within that time limit before it switches to the next one.

Artist research on Jill O’Bryan in relation to the art of frottage.

Some random doodles and brainstorming for the frottage project.

Scribble practice done in class.

Watercolour portrait based off a Pinterest face reference.

Some wheat doodling with cante pastels and taped in paper of watercolour colour testing that was done for the painting in the above post.
