Sketchbook Final

Image
Done in 8.5 x 11 in Sketchbook This is what I have done in my sketchbook since the midterm evaluation, and although I am happy with the pages that I have, I do wish I had been able to practice more in it. I like that I got to do a lot of  “doodling” as I think that’s my favourite part of art in sketchbooks - it doesn’t have to be perfect or final. You can just draw whatever wherever in any colour to your hearts content and just let the creativity flow. That being said I wish that I had been less busy so that I was able to do more technicality practicing, such as shading and posing because although I love doodling, skill practice is just as important, I didn’t have as much time as I would have liked - what I was hoping to have as I talked about in my midterm sketchbook post. However when I got to take advantage of time I am happy with with what I did and learned through research and experimenting, although I just went into her briefly I especially want to look more into Louise...

My Body Through Line

Image
Title: Mine  25.5 x 33 in (individual pieces of printer paper all together), pencil, marker, ink and white gel pen. I really enjoyed doing this piece and it was somewhat therapeutic for me as a few of these other projects have been. There was a lot of emotion and frustration put into this piece, but also coming from a place of growth and happiness - as I said in class there was a lot for me to unpack with this piece as it is coming from a mixture of ideas and feelings all in regards to my body. I wanted to depict the concept of trust and growth in relation to my body in the context of other people and my body but also between myself and my body. The title “mine” is meant to reference times when others have felt that my body is theirs, that they have a right to it, as well as times when I have felt like my own body is not mine in terms of what I want it to look like, to be. The overlapping lines of varying colours demonstrate sort of a tree ring aspect, which show how much a t...

Perspective Assignment

Image
I would say I struggled with this assignment a fair amount, and I’m embarrassed to realize how little experience I actually have with perspective. I would think that over the years doing art I would have naturally picked it up, however as it turns out that was not the case because when we first started learning this I could not tell the difference between one, two and three point perspective which feels very silly because it seems like it should be common knowledge for an artist. Having the lines all accurately facing the right direction and tilting just right really messed with my mind but I think I definitely got the hang of it at least a little bit more then I did before we started this assignment, and any progress at all is still progress so I’ll take it! I would like to practice this a lot more on my own time because it was quite eye opening as to how much technicality there is for me to learn, things that could be really helpful to progress  in proportion accuracy and d...
