Scribble Project - Final Drawing

Image
Black ball point pen on 22 x 26 inch poster paper. “Two-Faced” For this drawing I wanted to play on different interpretations of the concept of being “two-faced”, so this drawing could be seen in the context of emotion, personality, putting on a false front, or a literal Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde representation. However for my own personal inspiration it is more emotion based, I wanted to create a visual depiction of two strongly juxtaposed negative and positive emotions emerging from this sort of centre (the dark orb in the middle). Looking like there are trying to meld and balance with each other but wont mix and become to strong separate entities (emotions). As for the technicality of it I really wanted to play around with loose scribble line, I saw this assignment as an opportunity for very free line work rather then precision - however just scribbling tighter and tighter and going over areas where I wanted to emphasize certain features and detail. In relation to the idea that I...

Sketchbook Midterm Evaluation

Image
Sketchbook 8.5 x 11 in       A collection of what I have done so far for the first part of this semester, noted that certain project related sketchbook work is visible in my other posts rather then this one and is also under the sketchbook tag. I am happy with the drawings that I have done however I wish I had done more artwork as usually I enjoy practicing and doodling in my sketchbook but I have felt very short on time recently. This is disappointing for me and I’m hoping to improve on this for the second half of the semester because doodling is crucial to the creative process for me so therefore there should be 10x more of it. Another thing that I got back into was pencil crayon work, which is shown with the duckling, I love the blending, feel, and look of it and I used to do it all the time so it’s something I would like to do a lot more of  and I hope to show this interest on my sketchbook pages much more for the rest of semester. Key words research f...

Frottage Final Drawings

Image
“Femininity?” 18x24in Paper Cartridge (both drawings) Drawing 1 - 6B Graphite pencil  Drawing 2 - Prismacolour pencil crayon       For this project I decided I wanted to do my own personal experience with the concept of femininity, which although should not inherently relate to flowers (hence the question mark in my title) - it does for me. To be completely honest I struggled a lot with this project, mainly with figuring out what I was going to create with it. The whole concept of frottage threw me off because I had to create my art using things other then whatever skill set I held or what exactly I have in my mind. Relying on external sources (to rub and create the frottage) similar to how it is with sculpture was tricky for me and although I can see how it is a fun and interesting art form, I found it frustrating. I did a lot of testing on newsprint of a bunch of different surfaces and items with a combination of different drawing materials to figure out...
